The IEC 62443 standard takes a structured approach with requirements for commissioning, installation, systems, components, and suppliers.
It covers the entire product lifecycle, from requirements and design to decommissioning. It is a role-based approach, with the potential to mitigate risks associated with legacy components.
The IEC 62443 standard was originally designed for batch/process refineries, chemical plants, power stations, and manufacturing (automotive, food, medical).
