Electrical safety | LCIE

Electrical safety

Determining the electrical safety of products requires the evaluation of constructional provisions and characteristics such as heat and fire resistance, thermal behavior and dielectric strength.

Electrical safety tests are intended to analyze the underlying construction and assess the risks of fire outbreaks, electrical shocks, mechanical risks, defective conditions, etc.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY TESTS

All electronic and electrical devices pose risks to people, its surrounding environment and property. In order to reduce these risks, it is essential that designers understand the guiding principles of safety requirements, so that they can produce safe materials.

Standards are made available to manufacturers and importers to verify the devices’ safety requirements. The purpose of applying a safety standard is to reduce the risk of injury or damage from the following hazards:

  • Electrical shock
  • Energy-related hazards
  • Fire
  • Defective conditions
  • Thermal hazards
  • Mechanical hazards

Determining the electrical safety of products requires the evaluation of constructional provisions and characteristics such as heat and fire resistance, thermal behavior and dielectric strength.
